Foreign students enrollment — 2007

Gomel State Machine-Building Technical School admits foreign citizens in the specialty «The Technology of Mechanical Engineering».

Term of training — 2 years and 10 months.

The enrollment in Gomel State Machine-Building Technical School (hereinafter referred to as «Technical School») is carried out on the basis of the contracts concluded with foreign citizens, legally staying in Belarus and having the background education corresponding to the level of general secondary education in Belarus, or their representatives under the condition of tuition fee payment.

Obligatory conditions to be admitted are:

• a valid passport with Belarusian visa,
• or other document substituting passport,
• the certificate of the obligatory medical insurance given by an official public health service.

The candidates are granted the official Letter of Invitation to study required for issuing a students visa in a consular service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in their home countries.

For receiving an invitation an applicant or his (her) representative must send by post, e-mail or telex the following documents:

• a signed copy of the educational certificate and a list of subjects, which have been studied, with received marks;
• copies of birth certificate, passport or another document identifying the personality;
• an application having the person’s address, the telephone number, e-mail, telex;
• a medical certificate, given by an official medical office of the country the applicant has come from.

If the documents are in a foreign language, their translation into Russian or Belarusian certified by a notary should be enclosed.

To make a contract for studying a foreigner must hand in to the selection committee the following documents in Byelorussian, Russian, English, French, Spanish or German:

• an application indicating a chosen profession;
• educational certificate having a list of studied subjects and received marks;
• medical certificate, confirming the ability to study in the climate zone of the Republic of Belarus given by an official medical office of the country the applicant has come from.
• a certificate in HIV absence given by the official public health services of the country the applicant has come from;
• an attested copy of the birth-certificate;
• 6 photographies measuring 4x6 cm;
• a passport or a substituting document with the entry visa in the Republic of Belarus.

The translation in Belarusian or Russian attested by the notary’s office should be enclosed to the documents enumerated above.

Having received positive marks in the examinations foreign citizens are admitted to the technical school after the compulsory medical examination in the official medical office (the local hospital) of the Republic of Belarus. In case if the results of the medical examination received outside the Republic of Belarus do not correspond to these ones made in the official medical office of Gomel an applicant for entry should leave the Republic of Belarus.

The studies begin on September 1, 2007.

Not having a good command of Russian foreign citizens are admitted to the preparatory course within one year, where students study Russian language and Mathematics.

According to the results of successfully passed exams foreign citizens get a preparatory course leaving certificate and are admitted to the technical school.

The documents for training at the preparatory course are taken from September 1 to September 25, 2007. Studies begin on October 1, 2007.

Payment for education at the preparatory course makes up 400$ USA and is paid in Belarussian roubles according to the rate of exchange of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

An applicant for education has to foresee payment for:

• entry educational visa (for a month) — 72 $ USA or entry business visa — 100 $ USA (if the visa is given at the airport «Minsk-2»);
• cost of education (for a course) — 800 $ USA;
• compulsory medical insurance (for a year) — 85 $ USA;
• registration at the passport office — 40 $ USA;
• yearly medical examination in hospital — 40 $ USA;
• staying in the hostel — 15 $ USA a month;
• voluntary medical insurance in case of illness and (medical) treatment (per year) – 65 $ USA.

Approximate cost of food in Gomel makes up about 100 $ USA a month.

It is necessary to have about 150—200 $ USA to buy warm clothes and winter shoes as the temperature is from −25°C to +10°C in autumn and winter (October — March).

Before the beginning of every school year the technical school reconsiders the cost of education and other payment ways and makes changes.
